93 Points, Stephen Tanzer – International Wine Cellar (Jul/Aug 2009)
Bright ruby-red. Expressive, complex nose offers ripe scents of cherry-vanilla, blackcurrant, mocha, smoked meat and mocha, all lifted by a sexy floral nuance. Impressively sweet and lush, with energetic red and dark berry character, candied flowers and seductive pliancy of texture. Finishes very long and sweet, with the ripe fruit gently supported by fine-grained tannins. This firmed up in the glass as its spiciness and minerality became more assertive.
94 Points, James Halliday – The Wine Companion
A super-elegant and refined wine, with few of the flourishes that many of its regional counterparts exhibit; the fragrant, dark fruits of the bouquet are precisely replayed on the palate with its sombre flavours and tannins.
94 Points, Gary Walsh – The Wine Front
Classy oak, flickers of capsicum, leaf and mint, subtle dark chocolate, black and red fruits (mainly). It's a lighter, medium-bodied style with a purposeful driving acid line and firm, fine-grained tannins. Has a redcurrant jelly playfulness to lighten the severity of its intent. Length good. All set for a long and distinguished career — patience required.
