Torbreck

Torbreck was founded in 1994 by Dave Powell, who built it on old Barossa vineyards other people were pulling out, mainly Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre, some planted in the nineteenth century. The wines are Rhône in spirit and Barossa in scale: concentrated and built to last.

About Torbreck

At the top sit three Shirazes, and we stock all of them:

  • RunRig is the flagship. It is Shiraz with a dash of Viognier, co-fermented in the Côte-Rôtie way.
  • The Laird is a single vineyard, given long oak ageing. It is the rarest and most expensive wine Torbreck makes.
  • The Factor is the house's pure, old-vine Shiraz. We carry it in magnum.

For drinking while those age, The Steading (Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro) and Les Amis (old-vine Grenache) show the lighter, perfumed side of the estate.
