Rockford

Rockford is the Barossa as it used to be made. Robert O'Callaghan set up on Krondorf Road in the mid-1980s and built the winery around old equipment and old ways: open fermenters, a hand-worked basket press, and fruit bought from growers tending dry-grown vines, many of them more than a century old. Very little of it ever leaves the cellar door and mailing list.

About Rockford

The Basket Press Shiraz is the wine people search for. In youth it is dense and firm; with fifteen years in bottle it settles into something savoury and complete, with leather, plum and spice. That is the stage our bottles are at. We hold cellared vintages rather than current release, so what you buy here is ready to open.

Rockford's Black Shiraz, the Barossa's cult sparkling red, appears occasionally when we can source it.
