Meursault. One of Burgundy's oldest family estates, working the Côte de Beaune since 1720 and now in its sixteenth generation. Unusually makes near-equal white and red across Meursault, Puligny, Pommard, Volnay and Beaune. Generous, classically built wines that carry their history lightly.

Gevrey-Chambertin. A tiny seven-hectare Pinot Noir estate run by brothers Frédéric and Emmanuel Humbert, cousins of the Dugat family. Old vines, low yields and a traditional, unshowy cellar make deep, structured wines built to reward the cellar.

Pernand-Vergelesses. Farming the hill of Corton since 1765, led by Vincent Rapet with his son Robin. A reference for Corton-Charlemagne across twenty hectares of old vines, with reds that have risen to match the long-held reputation of the whites.

Chassagne-Montrachet. Run by Thibault Morey, widely called the rising star of Chassagne, farming organically since 2018. Holdings include Bâtard-Montrachet and top premier crus. Precise, mineral whites and silky reds.

Fuissé, Mâconnais. A certified organic and biodynamic Chardonnay specialist on old vines across a geological fault, now with daughter Cladie and son Auxence. Pure, fresh, firmly structured southern Burgundy with serious ambition.

Limoux, via Beaune. A Beaune wine house's southern project, growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay high in the limestone hills of Limoux. White-Burgundy elegance with a southern soul, made for drinking young and offered at an everyday price.

Givry. Owning vines in Givry since 1760, with leading premier cru monopoles. Known the wine world over for holding the second-largest parcel of Le Montrachet. A domaine of quiet grandeur, offering both honest Givry and one of Burgundy's great trophies.

Premeaux-Prissey. Founded in 1990 and now led by Maxime Rion, with finely perfumed reds across Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny. Holds Clos Saint Marc, the smallest monopole in Nuits. A serious family address on a rising trajectory.

Montalcino. An organic Sangiovese specialist at Castelnuovo dell'Abate, sheltered by Monte Amiata. Brunello given a long maceration and three years in large oak. Wines of freshness and balance rather than weight, built to age.

Abruzzo. A small organic label working the region's native grapes, the aromatic white Pecorino and the generous red Montepulciano. Honest, unfussy wines for the table at an easy-to-pour price.

Treiso, Barbaresco. Family growers since 1949, with high, cool sites at Meruzzano and Montersino. Perfumed, finely structured Nebbiolo with altitude lending freshness. A classic Barbaresco address of charm and pedigree.

Monforte d'Alba, Barolo. A family estate centred on a parcel in the historic Bussia cru. Polished, contemporary Barolo with a firm core, alongside fresh everyday reds led by Barbera d'Alba. An approachable way into serious Piedmont.

Valpolicella. The Bonuzzi family farming the limestone slopes of eastern Valpolicella since 1893. The full Veneto range, from crisp Soave through Valpolicella and Ripasso to grand, dried-grape Amarone. Warm, generous wines with an eye to value.

Monferrato. A Piedmont estate in the hills near Asti, making serious, great-value wines from old vines. A Barbera range that runs from fruit-forward bottlings to old-vine selections.

Treviso. A house Prosecco from Glera in the Veneto heartland, gently pressed and slowly fermented. Apple and white peach, a clean finish and an easy character. The bottle for a Friday evening, or no occasion at all.
