Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the world's most important fine wine region, producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot-based wines from appellations on both banks of the Gironde estuary. The Left Bank (Medoc, Pauillac, Margaux, St-Julien and Graves) is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and includes the five First Growths. The Right Bank (Pomerol and St-Emilion) leans toward Merlot and produces wines of a very different character, from plush and approachable to dense and long-lived.
