Collection: Chateau Petrus
Chateau Petrus is the most celebrated estate in Pomerol, producing a wine from predominantly Merlot grown on a distinctive iron-rich clay plateau. Production is small - typically around 30,000 bottles per vintage - and the estate's reputation has made Petrus one of the most valuable wines in the world on both the primary and secondary market.
The wine is harvested late in the afternoon after the morning dew has evaporated and aged in new French oak for around 18 months. The result is Merlot of extraordinary density, texture and longevity - a wine capable of developing for 30 to 50 years in ideal conditions. Great vintages such as 1947, 1961, 1989 and 2000 have become reference points for the appellation and for Merlot globally.
