Collection: Brunello di Montalcino
Brunello di Montalcino is one of Italy's most serious red wines, made from Sangiovese (locally called Sangiovese Grosso) grown around the hilltop town of Montalcino in southern Tuscany. The wines spend a minimum of two years in oak and five years before release, producing reds with depth, savoury structure and real cellaring capacity.
Expect dark cherry, leather, dried herb and tobacco notes, with the firm tannin and bright acidity that suit aged beef, lamb, game, hard cheeses and slow-cooked Italian dishes. The best bottles will benefit from a decade or more in the cellar.
