Tuscany is one of Italy's great red-wine regions, anchored by Sangiovese across Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, with Bordeaux-variety Super Tuscans from the coast adding a parallel tradition. Tuscan reds are classic partners for tomato-based pasta, grilled meats, game, hard cheeses, charcuterie and roast lamb. The more serious bottles - Brunello, Riserva Chianti, top Super Tuscans - reward a decade or more in the cellar.
