Tenuta Buon Tempo

Tenuta Buon Tempo farms organic Sangiovese in Montalcino's warm southern corner, and its two reds divide neatly: Rosso di Montalcino for drinking sooner, Brunello for the cellar.

About Tenuta Buon Tempo

The estate lies at Castelnuovo dell'Abate, on land running down towards the Orcia river that marks the edge of the Brunello appellation. The vineyard sites were chosen in the early 1990s, and about 12 of its 26 hectares are planted to vines, among olive groves and woodland. The vines have been farmed organically from the start, with certification following in 2018.

The split begins in the vineyard: the vines closest to the house give the Brunello, and those lower on the slope the Rosso. Both ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The Brunello ferments in wooden vats and then spends three years in oak, which is why it asks for patience; the Rosso is made in steel, with a short time in concrete and neutral oak, and can be opened young.
