First produced in 1988, Nine Popes is regarded as the wine that kick started the Grenache revival in Australia in the late 1980's / 1990's

Inspired by the classic 'GSM' blends of Châteauneuf-Du-Pape, it stands as a beacon of quality amongst other great 'GSM' blends and is a classic example of quality dry grown, old vines in the Barossa Valley.

“Charlie Melton, one of the Barossa Valley's great characters, with wife Virginia by his side, makes some of the most eagerly sought after à la mode wines’ in Australia.”
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion

96 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
Deep red-purple; aged for 2 years in 80% French and 20% American barriques (25% new), shiraz is the driver of this effortlessly powerful and focused wine, the medium to full-bodied palate with multiple layers of blackberry, licorice, spice and dark chocolate fruit that have now absorbed the oak contribution, leaving the ripe tannins to steer the finish.

94 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
Raspberry rope, fresh raspberry, brown toast, five spice. Medium bodied, pleasant herbal bitterness mixes with attractive ripe red fruit and dark cherry. Light pull of tannin, even acidity and a good long finish. Great drinking. Very good vintage.
