2006 M. Chapoutier L'Ermite Rouge Hermitage

Critic Reviews
98 Points - Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
“The 2006 Ermitage L'Ermite is more focused and reserved compared to the Pavillon, offering beautiful crushed rock-like minerality as well as a massive perfume of smoked meats, black currants, licorice, and Asian spices. It has awesome depth of fruit and concentration, perfect balance, and a great finish, and is another killer Hermitage. This beauty is just now at the early stages of its drink window and has another 3-4 decades of life ahead of it.”
97 Points - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator
“Tightly coiled, with layers of smoked earth, graphite, cassis and licorice. Remarkably backward and structured with an iron-fisted personality that demands cellaring.”
96 Points - Josh Raynolds, Vinous
“Deep ruby. Stunning bouquet of mineral-drenched red berries, smoked meat, fresh and dried flowers and incense. Tangy on entry, then builds exponentially, saturating the palate with sweet raspberry, candied cherry and zesty minerality. Flat-out gorgeous wine, with a finish that will not stop. (Original score 94-96 pts)”
