Clos des Monts Luisants is a Domaine Ponsot monopole on the upper slopes of Morey-Saint-Denis, and its white is one of the Cote de Nuits' most singular wines: famously made from old-vine Aligote rather than Chardonnay, it is a Premier Cru white in a stretch of Burgundy that is almost entirely red. Ponsot is one of Morey's great traditional domaines, known for late picking, minimal intervention and wines that need time. The 2022 Domaine Ponsot Clos des Monts Luisants Vieilles Vignes Blanc earned 92-94 points from William Kelley (Wine Advocate), who found it ample and incisive with a mineral finish.

...lime zest, green apple, white flowers and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and incisive, with tangy acids to underpin the additional plenitude conferred by the warm year, concluding with a mineral finish. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate (92-94 pts)

A white Burgundy with a long track record of ageing, best given a few years in the cellar.

Critic Reviews

94 Points - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

“The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Monts Luisants Blanc hadn't completed its malolactic fermentation when I tasted, and it may go to bottle like that. Offering up a reductive bouquet of lime zest, green apple, white flowers and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and incisive, with tangy acids to underpin the additional plenitude conferred by the warm year, concluding with a mineral finish. (92-94 pts)”
