2023 Mount Mary Triolet

Critic Reviews
99 Points - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
“An outstanding release, perhaps the best I've tasted in the last two decades, showing concentrated flavor and a pithy character with tension, drive and a distinctive Pessac-like mineral core. Aromas of lemon confit, Asian pears, oats, beeswax, lanolin, flint, mandarin blossoms, grapefruit, biscuits, crushed stones and honeysuckle. The palate is fine and textural, with racy acidity wrapped around a weighted, seamlessly integrated mouthfeel, layered with minerals over a citric finish. Truly exceptional and unique and arguably the finest interpretation of Bordeaux blanc in this region. 65% sauvignon blanc, 23% semillon and 12 percent muscadelle. Drink or hold. It will age for decades. Screw cap.”
97 Points - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
“Crushed and destemmed with 20% whole bunches in the press. Barrel fermented and matured for 11 months in seasoned barriques. Brightly coloured. Intense aromas of confit lemon, quince, oyster shell and white flowers. Even at this early stage, there's a real sense of harmony on the chalky, saline, structured and very long palate. If you have never tasted this wine, you are missing out on what I have long regarded as one of the Yarra Valley's, and indeed Australia's, finest white wines. Drink by 2032.”
96 Points - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
“Bright, light yellow in the glass, with a bouquet that is subtly nutty and spicy from barrel work alongside herb, apple and pear nuances, the palate intense and properly dry, with a slight bitterness in the grip which helps cleanse and refresh the finish, which is very long. There is very good fruit concentration so the persistence is impressively long. A glorious wine. Drink 2025-2037.”
96 Points - Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate
“The 2023 Triolet leads with exotic spices and white flowers, and the oak on the nose is evident but highly attractive. The palate leads with a concentrated attack of intense fruit and acidity, courtesy of the cooler vintage that was 2023. This is a wine that ages tremendously well, and one feels almost sad to open it at this time, given the layered complexity that develops over time. For what it's worth, this is a sensational release of the Triolet, one that is tighter and edgier on the acidity front that I can recall in recent times. This is a magnificent wine.”
