A fine and lovely Petit Chablis to enjoy. An appealingly fresh nose features notes of green fruit, iodine, petrol and plenty of citrus nuances that are also reflected by the generous and supple yet punchy middle weight flavors that conclude in refreshing bitter lemon-inflected finish. Drink: 2025+
Sebastien Dampt Tasting Notes:
The nose is dominated by marine notes that add depth to the intense lemony aromas. The palate is vibrant with mineral flavours. The finish is clean and pleasant, offering a well-balanced wine.
Vineyard Overview:
Growing on the Portlandian plateaux overlooking the village of Milly, the vines are around ten years old and benefit from clay-limestone soil. The climate is characterised by long, harsh winters, unpredictable springs and hot, sunny summers.
Background Information:
Sébastien Dampt is a rising star of Chablis and a new producer to the BBR fold. He is part of a dynasty that has been making wine in the region for over 150 years. Having studied in Beaune and gained experience around France, he returned to work for the family domaine in 2005 alongside father Daniel and brother Vincent.
In 2007 he took 7 ha of family land and created an estate in his own name based in Milly to west of Chablis. Split 50/50 between Village wine and Premier Cru, the wines are all vinified and raised in stainless steel to preserve the classic, steely appeal much loved of this venerable region.
