2023 Yarra Yering Pinot Noir

Critic Reviews
97 Points - Philip Rich, Wine Companion
“Some whole bunches, a gentle hand plunging twice a day and 10 months in barriques (30% new). A fabulous crimson purple. Gently brooding with its aromas of dark cherry and raspberries together with scents of roses in full bloom and a little sous bois. Medium bodied and very persistent on the beautifully structured and intense palate. This will need some time, but your patience will be fully rewarded.”
96 Points - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
“Wonderful bouquet. Good concentration and tight focus on the palate, with depth and structure. A serious pinot noir with intensity, line and persistence, lengthened and firmed by tight but measured tannins that impart some cleansing balsamic-herb bitterness. A delicious wine, that really fills up the back-palate. It would reward some cellaring”
96 Points - Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot
“From the start in 1969, a mix of clones were planted and then added to with subsequent plantings in ’81 and ’84. This has turned out to be a mighty fine wine from this difficult vintage. It’s light bodied but beautifully fragrant and deeply flavoursome. Lovely rose petal and violets are typical of this variety while a mix of spices and lightly chalky characters work into the palate. Light-bodied, yes, but this has the structure and pedigree to handle extended cellaring.”
