Puligny-Montrachet is the village that white Burgundy lovers measure everything else against, and Les Champs Gains is one of its Premier Cru sites, lying high on the slope above Les Folatieres where cooler air and lean, stony soils give Chardonnay of line and lift rather than weight. Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy is a family estate rooted in the village for generations, now run by Jean-Louis with his son Paul, and its wines favour precision, purity and a long mineral finish. The 2024 Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains is a Premier Cru from the top of the hill, in a style the domaine describes as expressive and a little exotic.
