Quintet is the wine that made Mount Mary's name: a Cabernet-led Bordeaux blend from the Yarra Valley that has been one of Australia's most elegant and age-worthy reds since the 1970s. The 2024 Mount Mary Quintet blends Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, and is a medium to full-bodied wine of pure blackcurrant and violet perfume with the long-chained, svelte tannins the estate is known for. Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion) rated it 98 points and called it another superb Quintet with a long future ahead of it.
With aromas of pure blackcurrant, crushed violets, pencil-box shavings and graphite, this soars effortlessly from the glass. Medium to full bodied, this has an intensity on the palate that's in perfect harmony with the wine's firm yet svelte, long-chained tannins.
