Rodolphe Peters is the sixth generation at Pierre Peters in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and the Extra Brut is the most transparent wine in the range. Chardonnay only, from Grand Cru vineyards in the Cote des Blancs, with the great majority of the estate's holdings sitting in Le Mesnil itself.
The blend joins a single base vintage with a portion of the house perpetual reserve, a solera-style stock held across stainless steel, large oak cask and concrete that reaches back to the late 1980s. Dosed at around two grams per litre, so there is very little standing between the drinker and the chalk.

“The NV (2013) Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs is a picture perfect example of the vintage, with a striking interplay of rich, tropically-leaning fruit with bright, salivating acids. Pineapple, mango, chalk and jasmine are some of the many notes that give the 2013 its distinctly exotic personality. The Blanc de Blancs is the same wine as the Esprit, but released earlier. In other words, this is a vintage Champagne from a great year released as a NV. Don't miss it. Dosage is 2 grams per liter. Disgorged March 2017.”
