Every year Seppeltsfield releases a single barrel of Para Vintage Tawny that has rested in the Barossa for a full century, an unbroken tradition that makes the Centennial Collection unique in the world of wine. The Seppeltsfield 1926 Para Vintage Tawny 100ml is this year's release, a fortified of extraordinary concentration that was tucked into barrel in 1926 and drawn off only now. It earned 100 points from Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion), 99 points from Ryan Montgomery (James Suckling) and 98 points from Erin Larkin (Wine Advocate), with critics describing it as monumental, otherworldly and a national treasure. The 100ml format makes a century-old wine an unforgettable experience.

Monumental, otherworldly and unique; the wine is a national treasure. A tawny of incredible depth and stature, a singularity of intense flavour. Liquid dried fruits, candied nuts, mahogany, fruitcake with a thick slather of marzipan, cigar humidor, dark caramel, espresso concentrate, candied figs, wood spice and citrus rind. - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion (100 pts)

A wine to share slowly, in small glasses, with people who will remember it.

Critic Reviews

100 Points - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

“In 1926, Queen Elizabeth II, Marilyn Monroe and Fidel Castro were born, John Logie Baird demonstrated television for the first time, Francisco Franco was promoted to Brigadier General in the Spanish Army, Robert H. Goddard launched the first liquid-fuelled rocket, Rudolph Valentino died, Buster Keaton's 'The General' was the top film, Jelly Roll Morton released 'Black Bottom Stomp' and this was tucked away into barrel. There's an incredible unctuous texture. Upon its surface the light shifts. It's chiaroscuro in an aqueous form; things flit in and out of view. You get lost in it. It's just epic.”

99 Points - Ryan Montgomery, James Suckling

“Vinified in 1926 and only taken out of barrel this year, this wine pours almost like motor oil, with extraordinary depth and concentration. Aromas of rum, bitter chocolate, salted caramel, nuts, burnt oranges, sweet spices, mahogany, dates, cloves, cardamom, leather and varnish lead to an intensely viscous palate with focused acidity that's remarkably persistent. Truly one of the world's rarest fortified wines. Excellent. Drink or hold.”

98 Points - Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate

“It was so wonderful to view this 1926 Centennial Collection Para Vintage Tawny in context. Aromatically, this is precise and salty, savory and cedary, with pressed sandalwood, licorice, fenugreek and aniseed as well as cocoa, leather, salted nuts and layers of cinnamon and date. This is a gentle wine that is harmonious and complete. It's a beauty. Will we see levity with a wine this age? Perhaps not. The concentration of sugars into thick texture and velvet flow means the form of the wine is part and parcel of its identity. For what it's worth, this is about as balanced as they come. Depth of remarkable tannin accompanies the sugar, the alcohol and the acidity.”
