Domenico Clerico has been one of the greatest innovators in the Italian wine world, a long and constant task, everything focused on enhancing the qualities of Barolo with the philosophy and passion that has always guided him and moreover he has been able to skilfully convey this to those who have followed in his footsteps.

Domenico Clerico is one of the most important names when it comes to the great modernists of Barolo . Located in Monforte d'Alba, the winery was founded in 1976 by Domenico Clerico, who, thanks to the support of his wife Giuliana Viberti, decided to elevate the family agricultural activity, until then dedicated to the delivery of grapes to the cooperative winery and the cultivation of other types of fruit. In the following years the spouses took over several prestigious vineyards in the Barolo area, expanding the estate's possessions. The production philosophy that has always distinguished the family is based on the concept that quality is born in the vineyard, which is why work between the rows represents a fundamental aspect of the estate. Unfortunately, Domenico passed away in 2017 and today it is his wife Giuliana Viberti Clerico who carries on the tradition of the cellar together with the skilled winemaker Oscar Arrivabene.

The Domenico Clerico estate extends over 26 hectares of vineyards, distributed between the municipalities of Monforte d'Alba, Serralunga d'Alba and Monchiero and managed following the principles of organic farming. In particular, among the prestigious MGAs that the winery can boast are Ginestra, Mosconi and Baudana. The undisputed ruler of the vineyards can only be Nebbiolo, flanked by Barbera and Dolcetto, other traditional Langhe grapes. The rows are located at altitudes between 320 and 410 meters above sea level and rest on soil consisting mainly of fossil Sant'Agata Marls. The vinification takes place in steel while for the aging of the Barolos the modernist approach is followed through the use of oak barriques , a good percentage of which are new, also associated with large barrels. The wines are finally bottled without undergoing any filtration.

Domenico Clerico's Barolos express the powerful and profound character of the municipality of Monforte d'Alba , skilfully interpreted through a modernist slant. The style of the labels is also modern, guardians of high-caliber red wines. Among these, the 4 crus of Barolo stand out: 'Pajana', 'Ciabot Mentin' 'Aeroplanservaj' and 'Percristina'.
