Eden Valley

The Eden Valley rises east of the Barossa floor to elevations between 400 and 600 metres, producing wines of markedly different character to those made in the warmer valley below. The region is best known for Riesling of steely precision and longevity, and for Shiraz that trades the Barossa's warmth and generosity for a cooler, more structured style with pepper and spice as defining characteristics.

Henschke is the region's most celebrated producer, farming vineyards including Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone that are among the most historically significant in Australian wine. The Eden Valley's combination of old vines, cool climate and well-drained soils makes it one of the country's most distinctive fine wine regions.
