2011 Stefano Lubiana Prestige Sparkling

Critic Reviews

“2026 Sparkling Wine of the Year. DB writes: 60/40% chardonnay/pinot noir, disgorged October '23 with a whopping 11 years on lees. So harmonious and complete with tones of citrus, sea spray, crushed shells, dried shiitake, pipe tobacco, Kalamata olive, fresh pastries and toast. Bone-dry and beautifully focused, it travels on rails of crystalline Tasmanian acidity with a 'sucking on a river pebble' savoury aspect and a finish that shows remarkable sustain and harmony. Just superb.”

“60/40 chardonnay pinot noir. Third release: 1995, 1999, and now this 2011. Steve Lubiana: The best years for sparkling. 2011 was dry here. Cool but with little rain or disease pressure. Incredible sparkling. Intense. Oysters, rocks, texture, preserved citrus, just love the exaggerated character of this, and the intensity, and the length. This is sparkling wine as a stairway to heaven. It’s super. Overview: Variety: 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir Vineyard: 100% Estate grown, single vineyard, Derwent Valley Geology: Mix of terroirs, grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel”
