Longues Terres comes from vines over thirty years old around Loche, on a thin clay-limestone layer over hard rock. Made without additions and aged in seasoned barrels, it is vivacious and pure: white peach, citrus and a saline snap, with more depth and persistence than its modest billing suggests. The family has shown bottles a decade on still singing, so there is no rush.

“This delicious wine is the flagship for this delightful biodynamic domaine, offering aromas of ripe pear and Mirabelle plum with notes of white flowers, spice and cream. The texture is dense and sensuous, and the wine lingers pleasantly on the palate. The grapes are from 3.5ha planted in marl soils over a limestone bedrock; the old and young vines are farmed and fermented separately, then blended after ageing, mostly in used barrels.”
