A cool, classical year for Mount Barker Shiraz. The 1996 shows the fine-grained structure and floral lift that the Great Southern produces in its best cool-climate seasons, expressed through nearly three decades of careful bottle development. The fruit has resolved into savoury, cedary complexity with red fruit still evident at the core. At this age it offers full tertiary maturity without any sign of fatigue. One of the more refined and understated expressions in the Plantagenet Museum Shiraz range.
