“From 51yo vines, 88/8/4% cabernet sauvignon/petit verdot/cabernet franc. Matured for 29 months in French oak (15% new). The 2017 vintage is responsible for cabernets of incredible poise and layering. This is not a thundering power piece, rather an intricately detailed and mesmerising wine, with fine folds of flavour: bay leaf, raspberry, star anise, sage, hints of fennel, pomegranate and pink peppercorn. This is pure, floral, pretty, and very long. Moss Wood has proven its capability for graceful ageing and this will be no exception. Special. Closure: Screw cap. 14% alcohol. AUD$152 (Drink by 2046)”

“Very attractive aromas of blue fruit, as well as red cherries and redcurrants with cedary, savory nuances, stones, flowers and woody spices. This is both pristine and full of interest. The palate has elegant style with a fine brand of elegant, long tannin and fresh red-berry flavors. Up there with the finest releases, this is beautifully balanced and very drinkable already, though cellaring will bring further rewards. Best after 2030. Screw cap.”

“A cooler year in Margaret River. It's a vintage I quite like.
It's typical Moss Wood in style, which means powerful and ripe, if perhaps not the most vibrant of wines. Flavour profile runs to rum and raisin chocolate, black fruit, freshly sawn wood, roast beef and olives, submerged floral notes, and mint. Tannin is rich and deep, very savoury, pulls somewhat fresher on the finish with red cherry and a smattering of dried herb. Length is good, grainy tannin trailing. It's pretty sullen as at now, but sure to unfurl with appropriate bottle age. (Drink between 2025-2036)
