95 Points Jeff Porter, Wine EnthusiastThis Barolo from the renowned Brunate cru captivates with its youthful energy, showcasing a vibrant bouquet of tart sour cherries, unripe raspberries, and an enticing medley of medicinal herbs. On the palate, a classic structure emerges, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins that support the wine's delicate red fruit flavors, subtle earthiness, and hints of dried rose petals. With its polished elegance this Barolo is poised to develop even greater complexity over time.
94 Points Antonio Galloni, vinous.com The 2020 Barolo Brunate is a dark, beguiling wine. Black cherry, dried herbs, leather, game, licorice and incense lend gorgeous sepia-toned nuance. Brooding and inward, the 2020 clearly needs time. It is a super-classic Brunate that is hard to read in the early going, but the weight, substance and power are clearly there. Dense, meaty and dark, the 2020 shows Serralunga-like intensity.
“The Les Marchais lieu-dit at the bottom of the Combe de Lavaux supplies half of the fruit for this excellent Gevrey village, with the rest coming from 14 other parcels.”
