Collection: Margaret River

Margaret River has been repeatedly named Halliday Wine Companion Wine Region of the Year, and its leading producers regularly feature among Australia's most awarded wineries. James Halliday has described Margaret River Cabernet as being "on a par with the best in the world," while Decanter has highlighted the region's rare ability to deliver quality and consistency across producers and vintages.

The region was established in the late 1960s by a generation of pioneering plantings that still define it today: Vasse Felix (1967), Moss Wood (1969), Cape Mentelle (1970), Cullen (1971) and Leeuwin Estate (1974).

Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay set the regional identity. Margaret River Cabernet is recognised for its balance, fine tannin and exceptional cellaring potential, with benchmark expressions including Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon, Cullen Diana Madeline, Vasse Felix Tom Cullity, Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet, Woodlands Matthew and Russell, and Xanadu Black Label - wines that regularly develop for two to three decades or more in bottle.

Chardonnay from the region is noted for precision, restraint and natural acidity rather than overt richness. Leeuwin Estate Art Series, Cullen Kevin John, Vasse Felix Heytesbury and Pierro are all considered reference points for the variety in Australia.
