Jolif. Old French: joyful and beautiful.
The inaugural release of Luke Jolliffe's own label. After eighteen years and more than thirty trophies at Stella Bella, including the 2020 Luminosa named Halliday's Chardonnay of the Year on 98 points and the 2022 Luminosa named Best in Show at the Decanter World Wine Awards, Luke has narrowed everything to one wine: a single Chardonnay from the Kudardup vineyard near Augusta, at the cool southern tip of Margaret River.
100% Gingin clone, hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild-fermented and matured around eighteen months in French oak hogsheads. Where his Stella Bella whites chased flint and tension, this is Gingin Chardonnay reconsidered: purity, texture and savoury complexity.
“Dry, forward, round, seamless and long. Soft texturing phenolic edges and mouthfeel, incredibly so for an 18 month old wood aged wine, that then lingers into that great length. This is a serious wine, and remarkably approachable now.”
