Sangiovese

Sangiovese is the most widely planted red grape variety in Italy, producing wines ranging from light and fruit-driven to dense and age-worthy depending on where it is grown and how it is made. In Tuscany it reaches its greatest expression in Brunello di Montalcino, made from a Sangiovese clone known as Brunello and capable of ageing for 30 years or more, and in the structured, food-friendly wines of Chianti Classico.
