“Rich, deep dark ruby colour with violet shimmer. Opens with slightly smoky notes, then lots of blueberry and cassis, fine spice, delicate resinous notes. Fills the palate full and shows great suppleness over the course, unfolds with a lot of fine-meshed tannin, wonderfully integrated, shows juice and melting, creamy, notes of smoke and tobacco at the back, resonates for a long time.”

“Antinori's Solaia 2021 is another wine that captures all the potential I sensed when I tasted it a few months ago. More than anything, the 2021 is a fine example of the style Antinori favours these days, an approach that favours finesse rather than opulence. Dark plum, mocha, liquorice, chocolate, spice, lavender and menthol unfold effortlessly in the glass. Oak and tannin are impeccably balanced.”

“This is a beautifully curated Solaia with blackcurrant and raspberry and undertones of lavender and violet. Graphite underlines all of this. Just a little new wood comes through. It is full-bodied with fine, velvety tannins that run the length of the wine and caress the palate. Give it three or four years to develop.”
