Why we follow Domaine Vincent Dancer
The estate
A small, quietly cult estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, founded in 1996 by Vincent Dancer on vines inherited through his family. Dancer was born in Alsace and trained as an engineer, which shows in the precision of the operation. His son Théo now runs much of the day-to-day work and has his own labels alongside.
The vineyards
Around six hectares in total, producing roughly 20,000 bottles a year, of which the majority is white. Chassagne-Montrachet village and premier cru La Romanée, Tête du Clos and Morgeot form the core, with Meursault premier cru Les Perrières as the flagship Meursault and a single barrel's worth of Chevalier-Montrachet at the top. Reds come from Pommard premier cru Les Pézerolles and Beaune premier cru Les Montrevenots. Dancer was the first producer in Chassagne-Montrachet to be certified organic, in 2012, and has moved steadily further toward biodynamics since, with horse-tilling in the premier crus and new plantings at densities up to 20,000 vines per hectare. Yields are very low.
In the glass
Low intervention in the fullest sense: wild yeasts, little or no new oak, no temperature control so fermentations run long, no fining or filtration, low sulphur and largely Diam closures. Writing for The Wine Advocate on the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, William Kelley found it "especially impressive... glossy, bright and concentrated. It's derived from a high-density planting at 20,000 vines per hectare."

How allocations are offered
It records which producers and wines interest you, so we know who to contact when a release is confirmed.
Availability depends on what arrives and how many customers are waiting. In some years there is very little to go round.
Our team considers purchase history, genuine interest and intended enjoyment. We would rather a case went to someone who will open it and tell us what they thought than to whoever asked first.
Change what you follow at any time from My allocation requests. Release timing moves with the producer and the vintage, so the months on the release calendar are a guide rather than a promise.
