Why we follow Giaconda
The estate
Founded by Rick Kinzbrunner, who trained at UC Davis and worked in Napa, Sonoma and Bordeaux before making his first plantings in 1982 at Everton Upper above Beechworth. Rick still makes the wine, with his son Nathan working full-time at the estate since the 2007 vintage. Giaconda is best known for its Estate Vineyard Chardonnay, matured in a cellar cut into solid granite, wild-fermented and unfiltered.
