Alain Graillot

Alain Graillot came to wine at about 40, after a career in the chemical industry. Encouraged by Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac, he trained in Beaune and in 1985 leased vineyards at Pont-de-l'Isère in Crozes-Hermitage, then a little-regarded appellation. Whole-bunch fermentation, unusual in the region at the time, and ageing in barrels bought from Burgundy estates gave his Syrah a finesse that drew new attention to Crozes.

About Alain Graillot

Alain died in 2022. His sons Maxime and Antoine have run the domaine since the late 2000s, farming organically across about 22 hectares. The range covers Crozes-Hermitage red and white, Saint-Joseph, and La Guiraude, a barrel selection made only in the best years.
