Collection: Giacomo Conterno

Giacomo Conterno is the benchmark traditionalist estate of Barolo, founded in 1920 and now run by Roberto Conterno. The estate is best known for Monfortino, a Barolo of extraordinary concentration and longevity made from the Cascina Francia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba and released only in the finest vintages after extended ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.

The Barolo Cascina Francia is the estate's second wine in name only - it is itself one of Barolo's most age-worthy and serious expressions. Conterno's approach is uncompromising: long maceration, extended barrel ageing and no concession to fashion. The wines reward patience above almost anything else in the Italian fine wine canon.
