2006 Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz Magnum 1.5L

Critic Reviews
97 Points - Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate
“The 2006 Mount Edelstone Vineyard is pure, fine, chalky and supple. The fruit flows alongside the tannin unbroken and persistent, and the length of flavor here is matched only by the consistency of it. This is a superb wine, and it is one of my top-scoring wines in this tasting of 1956-2022 Mount Edelstone Vineyard Shiraz. This has a pH of 3.55, 6.3 grams per liter of total acidity and 14% alcohol.”
96 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep purple-crimson; the bouquet is intense and full of spicy black fruits accurately foretelling the power and purity of the palate; this is an outstanding Mount Edelstone, indeed, I cannot remember any better than this; it has the focus and structure to guarantee a 30-year future, if this is what you are after. Alas, it will long outlive me. How good will the 06 Hill of Grace be? Shiraz.”
96 Points - James Suckling
“A very striking vintage that has intense bay-leaf aromas with redcurrant, blueberry and blackberry in behind. The palate has real density and definition in the core with very concentrated, ripe blueberries and blackberries. Smooth, fine tannins and a still taut and structured drive of tannin at the finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”
94 Points - Angus Hughson, Vinous
“The 2006 Shiraz Mount Edelstone is a step up on the 2005, with greater weight and structure. Ample aromas of fruit pastilles, dark licorice and an edge of slate lead to blackberry and black pepper flavours. The 2006 displays notable grip before meaty spice tones build to a strong finish. This is just starting to hit its peak and has a long life ahead.”
