2007 Woodlands ‘Nicolas’ Cabernet Sauvignon

Woodlands is one of Margaret River’s founding estates, established in Wilyabrup in 1973, and its flagship Cabernet Sauvignon has long been one of the region’s most serious and age-worthy wines. Each vintage carries the name of a family member or friend, with the exceptional 2007 release named ‘Nicolas’.

Now approaching two decades in bottle, this is a beautifully mature example of classic Margaret River Cabernet. Blackcurrant, plum and dark berry fruit sit alongside cedar, sweet tobacco, gravel, olive and the region’s characteristic eucalypt note. The palate remains finely structured and remarkably composed, with silky, fine-grained tannins, savoury complexity and excellent length.

Campbell Mattinson described it as “picture perfect cabernet”, awarding 95 points, while James Suckling praised its velvety texture, juicy fruit and savoury finish. A rare opportunity to drink mature, top-tier Margaret River Cabernet with the benefit of significant bottle age.
