2009 Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon

Critic Reviews
96 Points - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
“This is very complex and has developed a lot in bottle, whilst retaining good, primary fruit. Aromas of chocolate, tobacco, dried herbs, blueberries, black currants, cedar and earth. The palate is so plush and supple and has a deeply rich, fleshy and silky tannin texture. So smooth and even. In a good place. A blend of 97% cabernet sauvignon and 3% merlot. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”
95 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
“There's no question that Cape Mentelle Cabernet stacks up with the best of them. Impressive depth to smell and taste, though it's only medium weight - gravel, perfume of bay leaf, tobacco, white chocolate and vanilla, redcurrant and mulberry. There's almost pippy acidity, fresh and lively, with powder fine tannins that grip and shape but don't dominate - it's svelte, but classic and so long. A terrific release and a very long term prospect. (Drink between 2019-2039) (95+ pts)”
95 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep crimson; a classic bouquet of redcurrant, blackcurrant, cedar, olive and finely tuned French oak; medium-bodied and certainly no blockbuster, the palate is elegantly textured, silky and fine, building to a real crescendo of flavour; long, elegant and harmonious. Special. Closure: Screwcap. 13.5% alcohol. AUD$85 (Drink by 2025)”
