A warm, generous vintage met a famously structured premier cru in the 2009 Confuron-Cotetidot Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots. Confuron-Cotetidot is one of Vosne-Romanee's staunch traditionalists, fermenting with whole clusters and giving the wines long, slow ageing, and Les Suchots is a vineyard of real pedigree lying between Romanee-Saint-Vivant and Echezeaux. Stephen Tanzer (Vinous) rated the 2009 at 93+ points, describing a creamy, concentrated, even voluptuous Pinot Noir energised by its whole-cluster backbone, and noting that this is always a superb bottling.
Deep, complex nose dominated by raspberry and spices. Creamy and concentrated, even voluptuous, but with the whole-cluster vinification energizing the very dense middle palate and accentuating the wine's structure. The tannins reach the front teeth on the very long whiplash of a finish. This is always a superb bottling. - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (93+ pts)
A premier cru Burgundy with the richness of 2009 and the structure to keep developing.
