2010 Jean-Marc Millot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots

Overview:
The ebullient Alix Millot has been making the wines in succession to her father Jean-Marc since 2016, though he is still very much in evidence in a supporting role. Alix is one of the young Burgundians born in the late 1980s who are providing a dynamic resurgence to an already flourishing Burgundy.

The Vosne Romanée Premier Cru “Les Suchots” has velvet tannins. The wine is very strong in its finesse and length. Its color is a dark and deep ruby. It respects in all ways the codes of Pinot Noir by remaining on the red fruit with fine tannins. It has all the seriousness of the Grands Crus that surround Millot.

A reserved nose of pure and exuberantly spicy aromas that are quintessential Vosne leads to beautifully complex, intense and mouth coating medium weight flavors that are blessed with good mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in an overtly austere but strikingly persistent and well-balanced finish. This is very Suchots in character with a lovely combination of finesse and generosity. Drink: 2018+
