2014 Mount Mary Quintet Magnum 1.5L

Critic Reviews
97 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“While there wasn't a lot of wine made in the Yarra Valley in '14 (wind and rain during flowering), some wine of very high quality was made - witness this. Mount Mary has shown over the decades that Quintet develops superbly, and this complex dark berry-flavoured Bordeaux blend will do just that.”
95 Points - Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate
“The 2014 season was low cropping, warm and dry. The 2014 Quintet moves into hitherto unchartered territory, with notes of bone broth, enoki and raspberry compote-there's a real blood and bone, gristle inflation on the nose of this 2014. In the mouth, the wine is, as usual, supple, red-fruited and elegant, with a score of harmonious tannin that plays into the hands of the fruit. I like the juxtaposition here-it matches, but there is diversity between the nose and palate. That is not always a good thing, but in this instance, the nose highlights aspects of the palate that I may have missed without it. It's a bit of an outlier, and I like it nonetheless. 13% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.”
93 Points - James Suckling
“A very low-yielding vintage with a smooth array of fruits in the cabernet spectrum. A grainy, plush and velvety palate. Round, smooth and silky with dark berries, cassis, tarry black olives, tobacco and cedar. It has density to it. Drink or hold.”
89 Points - Wine Spectator
“Firm and dense, with an edge of fresh earth and herb and notes of black olive to the compact core of plum and currant flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2027. 20 cases imported.”
