2016 Elderton Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon

Critic Reviews
96 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“Cabernet's bursting swag of currant, dried sage and olive, at least as its voice in warmer climes, is all here in spades. What, though, makes this wine impressive, is its sheer strut across the palate. Buxom and confident, yet dichotomously restrained, it coats the inner sanctum with a smooth veneer of tannin and old vine glycerol. Special. Closure: Screwcap. 14.5% alcohol. AUD$120 (Drink by 2036)”
94 Points - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
93 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
“Barossa cabernet sauvignon, aged in French oak. Mature vines. Svelte and smooth. Blackcurrant, bay leaves, graphite, black jelly beans and cloves. There's almost a truffly, gamey edge to this but it works as a complexing agent rather than as anything dominant. Plenty of flavour but it feels cool and confident; the ripeness level has been judged perfectly. (Drink between 2021-2029)”
92 Points - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
“Attractive floral perfume and dried spices with blackcurrants and ripe plums. The palate has a deep, plush and dark-fruited core of very ripe tannin and baked-berry flavor. Drink now. Screw cap.”
