2016 Legras & Haas Blanc de blancs Les Sillons Grand Cru

Critic Reviews
94 Points - Tom Hewson, Decanter
“Jérôme Legras has been refining this single-parcel blanc de blancs sourced from a cool, late-ripening plot near Epernay since 2012 and today it stands as one of the village’s most impressive wines. There’s a marriage of compact, mature baked apple fruit and sweet lemon, beautifully measured oak, acacia honey and subtle bitters, beguiling with its inner freshness and drive, avoiding over-dryness or angularity. Remarkably complete and joyful for a single-parcel wine.”
94 Points - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
“A bright, harmonious Champagne, with a chalky underpinning to the finely meshed flavors of creamed pear, salted almond, white blossoms and pink grapefruit pith. Long and plush on the minerally finish.”
93 Points - Falstaff
“Medium straw yellow with golden reflections. Delicate herbal savouriness, a hint of roasted pineapple, ripe mango and some blossom honey on the nose, with nuances of cookie and white nougat. Medium complexity on the palate with a core of white peach backed by a fine acidity. The ripe tropical fruit on the finish lends a sweet touch to the aftertaste. Already well developed, with some grapefruit notes on the finish.”
93 Points - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
“Based in Chouilly at the entrance to the Côte des Blancs, this firm has produced a fine mature Chardonnay Champagne. With its yeasty aroma and tight mineral and toast texture, it is a rich wine that is cut with acidity. Drink now.”
