Bass Phillip's Premium Pinot Noir sits between the Estate and the Reserve in the Leongatha estate's range, and the 2021 combines real depth and structure with ethereal perfume. Huon Hooke (The Real Review) awarded it 98 points and Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion) 96 points. In magnum it will evolve more slowly than the standard bottle.

“Full ruby with purple tints and the bouquet is earthy/broken rock, ferrous/iron-like qualities with a touch of oak adding a smoky, fivespice aroma note and aftertaste. “My, my, what a wine with its depth and structure as much as its beauty and ethereal qualities. While there are the usual dark cherries and heady aromas of baking spices, there's very much a savoury edge to this. Fuller bodied with an abundance of richness and stately raw-silk tannins. This is complex, superbly balanced and built to last a long time. But gee, it's compelling now.”
