2022 Frankland Estate Olmo's Reward

Critic Reviews
96 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion
“Cabernet franc bolstered by a drop of cabernet sauvignon and a splash of mourvedre, aged in puncheons and 1500L foudre for 15 months. As always, this is smart and stylish. It promises a wave of aromatics and flavour, delivering all in harmony: blood plums, licorice, warm earth, ironstone, Asian salted plums, dried herbs and more besides. The fuller-bodied palate is caressed by textural tannins and fine acidity. Complex and classy. Lovely. Closure: Screw cap. 14% alcohol. (Drink by 2035)”

“This cabernet franc-based Bordeaux blend has a fascinating array of aromas, from dried mint to wild blackberries, camphor and warm spices. For a cabernet that's only at the upper edge of medium-bodied, this has a very serious structure. I love the interplay of velvet tannins and a delicate hint of sweetness, all the parts beautifully interlocking. The savory and earthy elements build very nicely in the long, lingering finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink from release.”

“88% Cabernet Franc, 9.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Mourvedre. Reasonably fresh and varietal on the nose. Very juicy and punchy. Sweet and vibrant. Still a bit tannic on the end. Sweet fruit. Transparent. Needs time. (Drink between 2027-2040) (Original score: 16.5+/20)”
