Les Bressandes is one of Beaune's finest premier crus, and Rapet farms a half-hectare at the very top of the hill, where only a thin skin of topsoil remains over limestone. The site shows in the wine's tension and purity: high-toned red berries, pomegranate and violet, a burst of stony minerality, and a frame that is taut without being lean. Built to reward five years and more in the cellar.

Domaine Rapet Père et Fils (Pernand-Vergelesses)
Farming the hill of Corton since 1765, led by Vincent Rapet with son Robin. A reference for Corton-Charlemagne across twenty hectares of old vines, with reds that have risen to match the whites.

Critic Reviews

94 Points - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

“Features extraordinary purity of fruit, with pronounced, high-toned pomegranate, wild strawberry and a burst of limestone minerality. The texture has abundant tension, but there is enough weight to ensure that the wine isn't shrill. The grapes are from a half-hectare at the very top of the hill in the last remnants of topsoil. This should open after three to five years in bottle and drink for a further 15 after that. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2040”

92 Points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

“Mid ruby. I can smell the whole bunches a little more in this wine, though the proportion is no higher. Suits the terroir perhaps. Certainly, the fruit is more expressive, floral, alpine strawberries, then a little more concentrate raspberry behind. An evanescent drier touch from the stems which will become leafy with time. Original score: 90-92 points”

91 Points - Allen Meadows, Burghound

“A markedly more floral-suffused nose is more elegant as well with its airy aromas of red cherry, currant, violet and exotic tea. There is slightly better volume to the beautifully textured and generous flavors that display good power on the youthfully austere, compact and built-to-age finale. This is quite solid and a wine that should amply reward a decade, perhaps even a bit more, of cellaring. (Drink starting 2033)”
