Les Folatieres is the largest and perhaps the best-known Premier Cru in Puligny-Montrachet, running across the mid and upper slope, and it has a reputation for Chardonnay with real energy, a flinty mineral core and the ability to age gracefully. The 2023 Philippe Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres is from one of the village's established family domaines: Philippe Chavy farms vines inherited from his father Gerard, who began bottling the family's wines rather than selling to negociants, while his brother Jean-Louis runs a sister estate. The 2023 vintage was warm and generous in the Cote de Beaune, giving wines of ripe fruit and roundness that still carry Puligny's signature cut.
