“The 2024 Bass Phillip Estate Chardonnay is impressive delivering a powerful and exotic blend of nectarine and brown pear aromas with a nice touch of orange peel wrapped up in a cocoon of high quality French oak. Quite densely flavoured yet remains light on its feet thanks to a gentle bite of acidity which holds through to a finish of extreme length. Quite tight and yet to flower but its future is assured. 2030-2040”

“Brilliant mid-yellow colour; the bouquet is complex and well worked with buttery and shortbread malo and barrel-aged characters, plus some malt and almond-meal oxidative overtones. The palate is full and broad, open-knit and up-front, just lacking tightness and focus. Seems like a deliberately oxidative style.”
