Almaviva is a Bordeaux-Chilean joint venture from Concha y Toro and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, producing a single Cabernet-led blend from the Puente Alto estate in Maipo Valley. The wine combines New World fruit weight with a clear Bordeaux frame.
It rewards proper cellaring - ten to twenty years for the best vintages - and partners aged beef, lamb and rich game dishes. Worth decanting on opening.
