1994 Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon

Critic Reviews
96 Points - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
“Strong red-purple; a fragrant bouquet with the first signs of that earthy character, which is the hallmark of Coonawarra Cabernet starting to appear. A powerful mature palate, arguably the most classic for many years. There is layer-upon-layer of fruit flavour perfectly matched by vanillin oak, and supported by long, lingering tannins. A multiple trophy and gold medal winner at major Australian wine shows. Retasted October 1997; similar notes.”
92 Points - Angus Hughson, Vinous
“The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon John Riddoch offers up a leafier, more traditional expression of Coonawarra that retains its vibrancy and freshness. Plump blackcurrants, red currants, crushed leaves and choc-mint provide an enticing opening. The palate, however, does not quite live up to expectations with firm acidity and chewy tannins delivering a sinewy texture which currently seems a little heavy. This may come around in time.”
88 Points - Wine Spectator
“Firm and chewy, this serious mouthful of herb-scented dark cherry and cedar flavors has depth, presence and style. Just needs time. Best after 2001.”
