Average Critic Score: 94.5/100

One of Australia's most enduring wine icons, Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon has set the benchmark for Coonawarra cabernet across more than six decades. The 2013 is a classically proportioned vintage that is elegant, seamless and built for the cellar.

Jeremy Oliver (95 points, Oliver's Wines) describes it as "stylish and particularly elegant… smooth and seamless," with a heady, floral bouquet of black and red berries, fresh cedar/vanilla oak and earthy undertones, dark berry fruit knit to polished, fine-grained oak and pliant tannins for "a lingering impression of harmony and balance."

Mike Bennie of The Wine Front (94+ points) calls it "firm, structured, intense and lengthy… a wine of clear sophistication and restraint," showing an open weave of dark fruit framed by steely, graphite-tinged tannins, with aromas of fine mahogany, earth, spice, olives and anise. He sums it up as a "class act; a legato" that is still "so very young."

Poised between generosity and restraint, the 2013 Black Label rewards patience and belongs in any serious Australian cabernet cellar.

Critic Reviews

95 Points - Jeremy Oliver, Oliver's Wines

“Stylish and particularly elegant, this complex and deftly composed cabernet reveals a heady, floral bouquet of black and red berries, fresh cedar/vanilla oak and earthy undertones that becomes more perfumed as it breathes. It's smooth and seamless, unfolding a reserved presence of dark berry flavour tightly knit with polished, fine-grained oak and pliant tannins, delivering a firm but gentle mouthfeel and a lingering impression of harmony and balance.”

94 Points - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

“Firm, structured, intense and lengthy. It's a wine of clear sophistication and restraint, yet shows enough flutter and carry of fruit to seduce. It finds its tones with big swirls of a glass – open weave of dark fruit, the trim and tuck of steely, graphite-tinged tannins. It smells of fine mahogany and dark fruit, earth and spice, olives and anise. The finish pinches, but it's so very young. Class act; a legato. Original score: 94+ points”
